This year, 2011, we celebrate the first centennial marking the begining of the archeological recovery of Madinat Al-Zahra in Córdoba, Spain. The celebration schedule included a conference on April 29 related to the Aga Kan Award for Architecture 2010 granted to the architects Nieto and Enrique Sobejano Fuensanta for the new museum building.

Among the invited speakers there were the architects themselves, together with Luis Monreal, Director of Aga Khan Trust for Culture; Louis Hortet, Director of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe; Martha Thorne, Executive Director of The Pritzker Architecture Prize; Antonio Vallejo, Director of the archeological complex, as well as architects and experts Luis Fernández Galiano, Eduard Bru, Ángela García de Paredes, Ignacio García Pedrosa, Víctor Pérez Escolano and Luis Moreno Mansilla.
