Bauwelt, a well-established German magazine on architecture and construction, dedicates its issue On. 18/2011 almost exclusively to Metropol Parasol. Three in-depth articles together with extensive graphic material (drawings, models, plans and photos) present the object analysing both its assets and contradictory urban, architectural and construction solutions.

The Spanish journalist, Carlos Marmol is the author of the first, critical article entitled "The false avant-garde" (The false avangarde), while Nils Ballhausen writes "The perfect stimulation" (The perfect simulation) and Volker Schmid "The Structure"(The structure), focusing on technical and structural solutions.

From the very start Fernando Alda has been documenting with his camera the multiple aspect development of this controversial project.  The complex urban context, related contradictions put at stake this extreme solution for regenerating the degraded old town’s quarter. The modern striking construction had to compromise with local conditions, and its spectacular scale with the financial, economical and social implications.
