Rehabilitation of Casa Pinillos as an extension of the Museum of Cadiz (II)

We would like to present a complimentary entry about the works on the Rehabilitation of Casa Pinillos designed by the architect Francisco Reina.

It would be impossible to present herein all the graphic información available, therefore we would like to highlight the design work realized on the inherited residence-palace, on its value as an representative piece of architecture of the enlightened Cadiz, in accordance with the museographic goals of the extension, the theme of the competition.

For that reason the intervention stands out and takes care of both the specifically stated morphological relation with the urban tissue originated in XVIIIth Century, and its thypological print, as it is characteristic for the culture that constructs it. The project chooses to clear all these alterations introduced in XIXth Century, that distort both the house itself and its cultural representativeness. The tower viewpoint is being cleaned and clarified as an architectural statement on the relation between residential and trade activities generated by this thypology. The internal patio results to recover its oryginal spaciality. The roofs have sufficient capacity for the introduction of the new functions and recover this landscape relation  that was esential in the XVIIth Century in Cadiz; with the sea, with the new world, with its trade and its mixed culture.
