EUROPAN11 prize for DONAIRE ARQUITECTOS

Last December the results of the 11th session of Europan competition were oficially announced. In the Spanish edition we have 5 winners, 7 runners-up and 7 honourable mentions. Among the European results there were 36 awarded Spanish teams: 9 winners, 15 runners-up and 12 honourable mentions. Among the awarded studios we are happy to see Donaire Arquitectos and with their proposal for urban-architectural stategies for the entrance point to the city of Graz in the neighbourhood of the Arnold Schwartzenegger Stadium.

Interactive Museum of History of Lugo in Casabella

Italian magazine Casabella, in its 805 edition, publishes a wide selection of images from our report on the Interactive Museum of the History of Lugo, interventions by the architects Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano, that we mentioned in the previous entry. The critical and descriptive text is accompanied by a set of drawings (plants, sections and construction details) that facilitate the understanding of this complex underground intervention and establish a perfect dialogue with the photographs of the work, taken at various times, the aerial shots that describe its urban presence and detail images show construction materials and finishes.

Always, the main square of the city of Seville was the Plaza Nueva, in front of City Hall, and of course there are all kinds of celebrations organized, events, concentraciones o manifestaciones. But the protests of recent days, first, have been convened in the Plaza de la Encarnación. Does this mean that Mushrooms are becoming the new agora Sevilla? treatment or simply- a new chapter of ournovelería.

A follow-up on the construction of the Interactive Museum of History of Lugo

Soon the works on the Interactive Museum of the History of Lugo (MIHL) will come to their end and we will get the opportunity to enjoy a garden-museum, the new work of architects Nieto Fuensanta and Enrique Sobejano. The project is a result of an international competition organized by the city of Lugo in 2007, won by a unique project which according to the city Mayor, will attract public to Lugo.

Flying over Metropol Parasol by Jürgen Mayer

The construction process of Metropol Parasol, which is soon coming to a close, was documented by the photographer Fernando Alda from the very start. The removal of auxiliary installations have revealed the building in its entirety though not all levels are accessible yet. Metropol Parasol is a wooden structure with a concrete core situated in Encarnación Square in Seville (Spain). It is approximately 150m long, 70m wide and 26m high. It is the implementation of the winning project of an international competition organized by the city of Seville in 2004, won by the German architect Jürgen Mayer.
